The road is an hour each way

From Hammamet or Yasmine Hammamet, the drive to the Tunis area is about an hour. From Monastir, longer. That driving sits inside the advertised eight hours rather than on top of them, which means a typical Hammamet day breaks down roughly like this: two hours travelling, an hour at Carthage, two hours in Sidi Bou Said, two hours in the Medina of Tunis including lunch, and the rest in transit between stops.

Nothing about that is dishonest, and for a first visit it is a good day out. But if Carthage is the reason you came to Tunisia, one hour there is one enclosure — usually the Antonine Baths — and not the Punic city underneath.

Which option to take
